Spider-Man Brand New Day is absolutely demolishing the box office, hitting $1.3 billion globally in its first ten days, and we debate if it’s actually breaking records or if ticket inflation is playing tricks on us. We also dive into the wild rumors surrounding The Batman Part 2 introducing the Court of Owls, and the controversial Endgame Encore re-release that is adding new footage to the MCU timeline. But that’s just the warm-up. We are breaking down X-Men '97 Episode 8, ranting about Professor X hiding under his blanket, and unpacking the insane Gambit and Apocalypse dynamic. For our character deep dives, we pull back the curtain on the tragic, dark origin of Angel (Warren Worthington III) and how he became the bloodthirsty Archangel. Then, we pivot to the Road to Doomsday, fully explaining MCU Incursions, dream walking, and how Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness perfectly set up the collapse of the Marvel multiverse. Welcome back to Only Comics! This week, Mike and Adrian are throwing down over one massive question: Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day the best Spider-Man movie ever made? The guys get into a huge debate over Tom Holland's raw new powers, that brutal Hulk fight, and Peter Parker finally getting a grounded, street-level story in the MCU. While Mike thinks it's the greatest live-action Spidey flick yet, Adrian has a seriously hot take about why it didn't quite hit the mark. Before the web-slinging, the podcast breaks down the latest MCU news, including the rumored casting of Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Storm potentially showing up in Black Panther 3. Plus, they celebrate Marvel officially canceling the Wonder Man series and the long-delayed Blade movie.Later, the boys do a massive comic deep dive to figure out why Peter Parker has the absolute worst luck in Marvel Comics—from Gwen Stacy's tragic death to Kraven's Last Hunt. They also explain exactly what a Marvel Celestial is during their Eternals retrospective, answer viewer questions in the "We Respond" segment, and wrap up with Adrian's Hidden Gem on The Immortal from the Invincible universe. If you want even more unfiltered talk, hit the join button down below to become an intern and get a whole extra podcast every single week! The Next Stop on our Road to Doomsday is Doctor Strange 2Watch or listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3OAjdvYrsHMXElchOJHrz0Use our Affiliate Link if you are going to sign up for Marvel Unlimited: https://yazing.com/deals/marvel/OnlycomicsJoin the Legion of Interns to go down the rabbit hole with us on "Other Stuff": https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcCf4TY3lm9wqOH5za2_h-w/joinSupport the Show: https://onlycomicsmerch.com/00:00:00 - Intro 00:03:03 - X-Men MCU Casting Rumors00:08:41 - Black Panther 3 & Denzel Washington00:19:39 - Ghost Rider & Secret Wars Setup00:26:08 - Marvel Cancels Wonder Man Series00:35:15 - Blade Movie Officially Canceled00:42:50 - Brand New Day Box Office Projections00:46:37 - Is Brand New Day the Best Spider-Man Movie?01:10:50 - The Epic Hulk vs Spider-Man Fight01:13:49 - The Reveal & Setup01:23:17 - Why Peter Parker Has the Worst Luck in Comics01:32:25 - The Death of Gwen Stacy01:38:49 - Venom's True Comic Origin01:43:41 - Kraven's Last Hunt Explained01:50:56 - X-Men 97 Episode 7 Review02:00:19 - Road to Doomsday: Eternals Retrospective02:07:00 - What is a Celestial?02:19:05 - Hidden Gem02:30:42 - We Respond

This week, Mike and Adrian are breaking down why Avengers Doomsday is about to completely shatter the MCU timeline. With San Diego Comic-Con around the corner, we are dissecting the leaked trailer details, the insane 2-hour and 45-minute runtime, and Robert Downey Jr. taking up the mask as Doctor Doom. Plus, DC cannot catch a break as The Batman Part II gets pushed back all the way to 2028. Are these massive superhero movie delays saving the cinematic universes or totally killing fan hype? Then, we dive straight into the animation arena to give our completely honest, unfiltered review of X-Men '97 Season 2, Episode 5. Wolverine finally gets his adamantium back on his bones, but did this Weapon X storyline feel way too rushed, or are they successfully setting up a massive Apocalypse Horseman arrival? For our main comic lore segments, we are asking the ultimate question: Who the fuck is Emma Frost? We track the White Queen from her ruthless Hellfire Club origins to surviving the absolute genocide of Genosha and triggering her organic diamond mutation. We also check back into the Road to Secret Wars to reveal why Valeria Richards is officially the smartest character in the Marvel Universe, followed by an epic Hidden Gem breakdown of the brutal Soviet super-soldier Omega Red. We do a massive deep dive into the MCU’s Scarlet Witch. This week, Mike and Adrian are diving headfirst into the chaotic madness of the brand-new Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer. Plus, we break down the secret cameo speculation—is Sadie Sink making her live-action debut as Jean Grey right under our noses? Then, we switch gears to the trainwreck happening over at DC Studios. The Supergirl movie opening weekend projections are looking rough, sliding into that disastrous Ezra Miller Flash territory, and we are putting the blame exactly where it belongs—garbage marketing. Kara Zor-El is not just Superman in a skirt or a glorified sidekick; she’s a battle-hardened, god-tier savage born in a advanced civilization who has watched her entire world bleed out. Mike gives a full comic history lesson on why she has an edge that even Batman respects more than the Boy Scout. We also break down those suspiciously clean "leaked" Avengers Doomsday set photos, we review the temporal madness of Loki Season 2 and MORE!!Grab your fresh gear at onlycomicsmerch.com, subscribe to the channel, and grab a ticket for the ride. Welcome back to Only Comics! We just hit a massive milestone this past weekend—100,000 followers over on TikTok! Huge shout out to all the fans and followers who found us there and are now diving into the full weekly episodes. If you have thin skin, you should probably tune out right now because we’re bound to say something that will offend someone. This week, we are breaking down the absolute madness coming out of South by Southwest London, where the Russo brothers claimed their approach to Avengers Doomsday is a total "Phase Zero" reset that starts over from scratch. Are they completely ignoring the Multiverse Saga out of pure weakness, or is this just a massive marketing play on words? We also break down the confirmed 33-character cast list to prove why the internet trolls crying about a "cameo feast" need to shut the f up.Then, we transition into pure body horror as we unlock the terrifying comic history of Peter Parker mutating into a giant spider and hatching from his own dead exoskeleton just to get organic webbing, followed by a breakdown of why Iceman is a low-key, immortal Omega-level god who strips the thermodynamic kinetic energy right out of the universe. What's up everybody, we are back for another week of Only Comics, where we discuss comics and only comics... mostly. We've got a jam-packed show for you today. First up, we are breaking down the brand new X-Men '97 Season 2 trailer. If Marvel handles this right, we are about to get the greatest on-screen version of Apocalypse we've ever seen. Forget that blue Ivan Ooze cosplay—we are doing a deep dive into the First Mutant's twisted origins, his Celestial armor, and why his brutal "survival of the fittest" mentality makes him the ultimate game-changing villain. We're also talking about the absolute box office shocker of the year. The indie horror movie Backrooms is completely dominating the theaters, putting major studio projects like The Mandalorian & Grogu to shame. It goes to show you don't need a $200 million budget to tell a story people actually want to see. Plus, we continue our Road to Doomsday journey with an Avengers: Infinity War review, breaking down why Thanos is the absolute gold standard for villains and tearing apart the myth that he had "years of build-up." We also get into the wild science behind how Pym Particles actually work before we hit Endgame next week.Adrian comes through with an epic Hidden Gem covering a highly versatile and incredibly powerful mutant, but you'll have to listen to find out exactly who it is! And as always, we wrap the show up by dragging some of the absolute worst takes from our TikTok comment section.
